Archaeoastronomy was on my mind when I made this piece. I was thinking about the earth, spirituality and the connection to the sky in pre-historic cultures.

I don’t spend a lot of time looking at the sky (though I’d like to do more), but drones, mine or others, for me, have always provided a portal for connecting to spirit or being.

Enjoy.

  1. As much as I really, REALLY love most of your podcasts and listen to No 50 evey night in bed … this one has some mean dissonances in it that made my face twitch, like “ouch, don’t you hear that? That hurts!” 😉
Visiting your site ever so often in hope of new music to be to.

    • Thanks, Uwe! I don’t remember the dissonances so I’ll have to listen back for those, as I generally try to keep these pretty consonant. For me, though, there are some really nice moments that remind me of Sheep from Pink Floyd’s Animals. It wasn’t intentional, but things just came together that way and I was pleased with the outcome.

  2. Don’t get me wrong, there definitely are a lot of moments in that piece that are more versatile and refreshing as the normal spheric “sound curtains”.
What I meant are the passages like from min 2:08 to 2:13. Those are not for me and destroy the whole mood. It sounds like someone sat on the whole keyboard, pressing everything down at once. The harmony of the whole work is gone in those moments. It comes back, sure … until the next one. 🙂

  3. Interesting… I just listened back to that and that little section is one of my favorite areas with its momentary tension and release. Nevertheless, good feedback, because I’m, possibly, not as sensitive to this as some. For instance, I love Claude Debussy’s Images (1905 and 1907), as well Arnold Schoenberg’s Verklarte Nacht, and for me these are just on the cusp of post-tonal, but for some they’re just too far beyond comfortable, equal-tempered major/minor tonal centers. I like the blurred lines. Good feedback, though, thank you.

    • Thanks, Kevin. It was interesting to get the feedback that I’ve gotten on this one, as it was one that I really enjoyed making and I spent a good bit of time listening to it before I put it out. I have never heard of mynoise.net, but I am excited to check it out as it looks like a treasure trove of sound environments – Great share! Thank you.
